Yukon Territory, Wheaton River Staff Training - 23 Jul 1974
Tuesday 23 July - At 1000 hrs the canoeing staff
took off in three canoes on the Wheaton River.  It
was flowing very fast.  As we progressed, I
realized that the going might be a little tough for
the cadets as the river was rapid throughout.
Some of the training staff flew over us in a Single
Otter and, hopefully, took some pictures.  There
were several spills by the other canoes before we
finally reached Bennett Lake.  It looked like the
ocean! The waves were huge.  We completed
the lake crossing to Carcross with one stop over
to empty the canoes of water
Here come Corporals Deschamps and Miller
towards a tricky passage.
Watch out for that sweeper.
Shallow water.
They're through!
Time to dry out.
