Yukon Territory, Bennett Lake - 26 Jun 1974
Mount Gray, at the mouth of the Wheaton River, where it flows into Bennett Lake
Brute Mountain, across from the mouth of the Wheaton River
Sternwheeler at our destination, Carcross
Wednesday 26 June - We canoed down the
Wheaton River.  Godfrey and I made it, Chris and
Jim didn't.  They tipped under a sweeper, lost
one running shoe, one poncho, a jacket, soaked
Jim's camera and watch, and wrecked Canoe
#13.  We left at 1015 hrs and after a 7-mile
crossing of Bennett Lake we arrived at Carcross.
The lake was smooth as glass - we never saw it
like that again on our next two trips.
